Overview
The Johnson Controls VA7820-HGA-2 is a spring-return electric valve actuator designed to control VG7000 Series bronze globe valves in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It provides fail-safe proportional control regulated by an electronic controller, ensuring that the actuator stem fully retracts and the valve stem moves to the full up position in the event of a power loss.
Features
- Proportional control from the factory, field-configurable to on/off or floating control via DIP switches
- Spring-return fail-safe functionality that fully retracts the actuator stem on power loss
- Automatic stroke adjustment for quick and precise commissioning and servicing
- Brushless motor for low energy consumption and extended operating life
- Manual override capability as a standard feature using a 5 mm Allen wrench
- Multicolored status LED providing visual operational status and diagnostics
Specifications
- Force: Minimum linear output force of 180 lb (800 N)
- Supply Voltage: 24 VAC nominal, 11 VA rating
- Control Signals: 0 to 10 VDC, 2 to 10 VDC, 0 to 20 mA, or 4 to 20 mA
- Feedback Signal: 0 to 10 VDC or 2 to 10 VDC position indication
- Linear Stroke: Housed for 5/16-inch to 1-inch stroke capabilities (8 mm to 25 mm)
- Enclosure Rating: IP54 protection against dust and moisture
Applications
- Designed for field mounting or factory coupling to 1/2-inch through 2-inch Johnson Controls VG7000 Series bronze globe valves
- Suitable for chilled water, hot water, and glycol solution control in commercial HVAC systems
- Used in steam control applications (up to 35 psig for brass trim and up to 100 psig for stainless steel trim)
- Integrates with building automation systems for precise environmental control
