Overview
The Fireye UV8A is a precision-engineered, 90-degree right-angle ultraviolet (UV) flame scanner designed for industrial and commercial burner management systems. It is used to detect the presence or absence of a flame by sensing ultraviolet radiation emitted during combustion. This compact, non-self-checking scanner is ideal for applications where space is limited or where a right-angle viewing orientation is required to gain a clearer line of sight to the flame zone.
Features
- Right-angle 90-degree configuration for flexible installation in tight burner assemblies.
- Miniature non-self-checking UV sensor design for reliable flame detection.
- Quartz UV tube filled with ionizing gas for high sensitivity to flame radiation.
- Rugged construction suitable for demanding industrial heating environments.
- Comes with 72-inch (1830mm) unshielded lead wires for straightforward wiring.

Applications
The UV8A scanner is widely used in industrial and commercial combustion systems, specifically for monitoring flames from natural gas, propane, and light fuel oils like No. 2 oil. It is compatible with a broad range of Fireye controls, including the M-Series, M-Series II, MicroM, FlameWorx, MB-2, and D-Series, as well as the FLAME-MONITOR, BurnerLogix, and Nexus systems. It is particularly effective for gaseous fuel applications where accurate, real-time flame safeguard monitoring is essential for operational safety.
