Overview
The Fireye UV7A4W is a high-sensitivity, non-self-checking ultraviolet (UV) flame scanner designed for industrial combustion safety. Specifically engineered for monitoring gas or oil flames that cycle on and off frequently, it features a NEMA 4 rated enclosure for protection against harsh environmental conditions. The scanner detects UV radiation from the flame and transmits a signal to a compatible flame safeguard control, which monitors for potential “runaway” scanner conditions at the start and end of every cycle to ensure system integrity.
Features
- High-sensitivity ultraviolet sensor optimized for gas and light oil flames.
- NEMA 4 rated enclosure provides superior protection against water and dust.
- Non-self-check design ideal for intermittent burner operation.
- Integrated 4-foot (122 cm) shielded flexible conduit and cable for reduced electrical interference.
- Insulated nylon coupling (1/2 inch NPT) to thermally isolate the scanner from the burner.
- Rugged construction suitable for high-temperature industrial applications.
- UL listed and FM approved for safety compliance.

Applications
The UV7A4W is used in commercial and industrial burner systems where line-of-sight flame monitoring is required. It is designed to work seamlessly with Fireye MBSERIES multi-burner controls, SBSERIES single burner controls, and MBPF-100S or MB-600PF flame sensing modules. It is commonly applied in boilers, furnaces, and ovens burning natural gas, propane, or No. 2 fuel oil, particularly in systems where the burner cycles at least once every 24 hours.
