Overview
The Johnson Controls A11E-5C is an electromechanical low-temperature cutout control designed to sense low-temperature conditions in HVAC systems and building automation applications. It features an automatic reset mechanism that recycles automatically upon a temperature increase, preventing icing and overcooling without requiring manual intervention.
Features
- Automatic reset functionality on temperature rise.
- Single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) snap-acting switches in a dust-protected enclosure.
- Remote vapor-charged copper element that senses the coldest 16-inch section along its length.
- Easy setpoint adjustment via an external direct-reading scale accessible from the top or bottom.
- Ambient temperature compensation at the control diaphragm cup and capillary.
Specifications
- Temperature Cutout Range: 35°F to 45°F (2°C to 7°C).
- Fixed Differential: 12°F (6.7°C).
- Sensing Element Dimensions: 1/8 inch diameter by 20 feet length.
- Capillary Length: 4 feet (1.2 meters).
- Maximum Bulb Temperature: 250°F (121°C).
- Contact Electrical Ratings: 16 Full Load Amps at 120 VAC, 1 HP motor rating, and 125 VA pilot duty.
- Construction: NEMA Type 1 cold-rolled steel case with a galvanized steel mounting bracket.
Applications
- Freeze protection for hydronic coils, cooling coils, and liquid-handling pipes in commercial HVAC systems.
- Low-temperature limit monitoring in air dryers.
- Integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to protect equipment from icing or extreme cold conditions.
